Offer Description
The purpose of the competition is to fill one position of Research Assistant at the Institute of Linguistics (in the area of Norwegian philology).
The competition is open to persons who meet the requirements set out in Articles 113 and 116 of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended), as well as in the Statute of the University of Szczecin, and who satisfy the criteria specified in the competition announcement.
The competition constitutes the first stage of the recruitment procedure for the position of an academic teacher, and its successful outcome provides the basis for further stages of the recruitment process.

Requirements:
- A Master's degree in Norwegian Philology or Scandinavian Studies with Norwegian as the principal language.
- Clearly defined research and publication plans.
- Proficiency in spoken and written Polish at a minimum level of B2.
- Willingness to accept employment at the University of Szczecin as the primary place of employment only.
Additional advantages:

- A documented record of scholarly achievements, including conference participation and publications in academic journals, as well as other accomplishments in the organization of academic activities and the popularization of science.

Eligibility criteria
Candidates are required to submit the following documents:
- An application for employment addressed to the Rector of the University of Szczecin, in Polish.
- A curriculum vitae (candidates who are foreign nationals must provide a Polish translation of the document).
- Original documents (or certified copies) confirming the award of an academic title, academic degree, professional degree, or equivalent qualification. If the documents have been issued in a language other than Polish, they must be accompanied by a certified Polish translation and a certificate confirming the equivalence of the diploma to the relevant Polish professional degree or academic degree.
- Information on the candidate's clearly defined research and publication plans.
- Information on the candidate's research achievements (including a list of publications), teaching and organizational experience, and other accomplishments in the organization of academic life and the popularization of science, or a declaration that no such achievements exist.
- A document certifying proficiency in spoken and written Polish at a minimum level of B2 (required for candidates who are foreign nationals).
- A completed personal questionnaire for applicants seeking employment (downloadable form).
- A declaration confirming compliance with the requirements set out in Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended) (downloadable form).
- A declaration stating that the University of Szczecin will constitute the candidate's primary place of employment (downloadable form).
- A consent clause regarding the processing of personal data for the purposes of the recruitment procedure, together with the information clause (downloadable form).
- A certificate from the Polish National Criminal Register confirming that the candidate has not been convicted of offences specified in Chapters XIX and XXV of the Polish Criminal Code, Articles 189a and 207 of the Polish Criminal Code (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 17, as amended), or under the Act of 29 July 2005 on Counteracting Drug Addiction (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 1939, as amended), or corresponding offences under the laws of a foreign state, as required under Article 21 of the Act of 13 May 2016 on Counteracting the Threat of Sexual Crime and the Protection of Minors (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 560).
In the case of candidates who are foreign nationals, the following additional documents are required:
- A criminal record certificate issued by the competent authority of the candidate's country of citizenship for the purposes of professional or voluntary work involving contact with children.
- A declaration specifying the country or countries in which the candidate has resided during the past 20 years, other than the Republic of Poland, together with criminal record certificates from those countries (form available at: https://bip.usz.edu.pl/zarzadzenie/20384/zarzadzenie-nr-57-2024, Appendix 1a).
- A declaration of no criminal record if the law of the country from which the certificate is to be obtained does not provide for the issuance of such a document or if no criminal register is maintained in that country (form available at: https://bip.usz.edu.pl/zarzadzenie/20384/zarzadzenie-nr-57-2024, Appendix 1b).

The remuneration package for this position includes:
- Basic monthly salary ranging from PLN 4,830 gross to PLN 5,465 gross for candidates holding a Master's degree; (Section 5(5) of Regulation No. 28/2026 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin of 17 March 2026 on the Remuneration Regulations of the University of Szczecin, together with Appendix 1 thereto).
- Position allowance for employees performing managerial functions or employed in managerial positions (Appendix 9 to Regulation No. 28/2026 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin of 17 March 2026).
- Length-of-service allowance ranging from 0% to 20% of the basic salary (Section 16(1) of Regulation No. 28/2026 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin of 17 March 2026).
- Annual bonus ("thirteenth salary"), subject to meeting the statutory requirements (Section 23 of Regulation No. 28/2026 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin of 17 March 2026).
- Long-service award (Section 22 of Regulation No. 28/2026 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin of 17 March 2026).
- Retirement or disability severance payment (Section 24(1)(2) of Regulation No. 28/2026 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin of 17 March 2026).
In justified cases, the employee appointed to this position may also receive:
- Rector's Award (Section 19 of Regulation No. 28/2026 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin of 17 March 2026).
- Task-related allowance (Section 17(1) of Regulation No. 28/2026 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin of 17 March 2026).
- Project allowance (Section 10(1) of Regulation No. 28/2026 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin of 17 March 2026).
- A 10% increase in the basic salary for a period not exceeding 12 months prior to the termination of employment due to retirement, provided that the remaining conditions specified in the regulations are met (Section 25 of Regulation No. 28/2026 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin of 17 March 2026).
Subject to available financial resources, the employer may provide the employee with basic private health insurance.
