Research Associate (Aviation Engine Emissions Measurement)
This RA position will be responsible for the acquisition and interpretation of data towards understanding the impact of aircraft engine operability and fuel composition on regulated emissions (non-volatile PM & gaseous) and real-world on-ground and in-flight emissions. You will be joining an established research team, responsible for the maintenance and operation of the European nvPM sampling and measurement reference system, and will be directly responsible for the collection, analysis and interpretation of data from the UKRI NERC GRIM-SAF research programme, towards its publication in high-ranking international journal articles.
This research program is conducted in partnership with the universities of Manchester and York, hence there will be the potential for external collaboration and travel, with the expectation that the relevant findings and outcomes will be presented to relevant international committees, workshops and conferences. Broadening both the impact of the work and visibility of the appointed researcher.
This post is full time (35 hours per week), available from 1st April 2026 and is fixed term until 9th May 2027.
Salary: £41,064 - £46,049 per annum (Grade 6). We do not anticipate appointing this position above point 32, starting point of Grade 6 salary, £41,064 per annum.
