Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (COM) has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine’s faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day. The Department of Radiology is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff.

A full-time Research Associate staff position is available in the Department of Radiology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. This position supports the scientific mission of the University of Cincinnati Imaging Management Center by assisting imaging scientists and the Research Manager in executing research-driven imaging operations across multi-center stroke studies. This position plays a key role in facilitating high-quality neuroimaging data collection, strengthening research workflows, and supporting scientific discovery.

Essential Functions

  • Plan and coordinate imaging research workflow components in collaboration with scientific staff and research management by executing day-to-day imaging laboratory operations, tracking progress, and resolving operational gaps that impact research objectives.
  • Manage incoming research data and image acquisitions from multiple study sites by monitoring submission timeliness, verifying protocol compliance, and communicating with site personnel to resolve deviations.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control procedures on research data and images by evaluating data integrity, documenting discrepancies, and escalating issues that may affect research validity or analysis.
  • Develop and maintain research documentation by drafting and updating procedural guides, case report forms, standard operating procedures, and data dictionaries that support consistent research methodologies.
  • Prepare curated imaging research datasets by organizing, labeling, and structuring data files, ensuring completeness, and compiling materials for research presentations, manuscripts, and regulatory or safety review committees.
  • Collaborate with research scientists, clinical specialists, statisticians, and research management to align data handling and workflow execution with study protocol requirements and scientific priorities.
  • Operationalize standardized data review workflows by preparing imaging data packages, coordinating reviewer assignments, tracking review progress, and ensuring consistent interpretation of research findings
  • Contribute to research meetings by summarizing study progress, presenting workflow updates, and assisting with literature reviews, manuscript preparation, and scientific data summaries.
  • Develop and deliver training modules and mentoring sessions to promote consistent data quality and workflow efficiency. Teach research principles and laboratory procedures to students, interns, and technicians, offering instruction in research methods, data handling, and compliance standards.
  • Provide research support across multiple studies and clinical trials by executing protocol-specific tasks, assisting with subject-level research procedures, and supporting evolving operational needs.

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree in health sciences, public health, or related discipline.
