About the role

The post holder will be based at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics within the School of Public Health at Imperial College, working closely with other collaborators and researchers on the COSMOS, SCAMP and Airwave studies. The School of Public Health has considerable experience of setting up and conducting large scale epidemiological cohort studies. These include the COSMOS study (a major international research programme investigating mobile phone use and health across 6 European countries), the AIRWAVE Health Monitoring study (cohort of British police personnel and TETRA phone use), the SCAMP study (Study of Cognition, Adolescents and Mobile Phones) and the REACT study (Real-time Assessment of Community Transmission). The successful candidate will be responsible on a day-to-day basis for various aspects of these cohort research programmes and contribute to the work of the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in Chemical & Radiation Hazards and Threats, within the School of Public Health.

The post offers opportunities to collect data using novel methods and excellent training opportunities for ambitious, well-motivated scientists who will be undertaking research in one of the UK’s leading research departments in epidemiology, rated number 1 in the country in the most recent REF exercise.

What we are looking for

We are looking for an epidemiologist/statistician, with an advanced degree in epidemiology, medical statistics, or relevant quantitative discipline. A self-motivated candidate with demonstrable experience of large-scale data collection processes and survey methodology, handling large complex medical/health research datasets, and strong statistical knowledge and skills on longitudinal datasets.
