Project Summary: Epigenomics and behaviour in dairy cattle

We are seeking an excellent Research Fellow to be part of a research project on calf epigenomics and calf behaviour. The applicant will play a key role in the day-to-day management of a field trial collecting data on adult dairy cows and calves. The applicant will also be responsible for the delivery of the analysis of precision livestock technology data and epigenomic data and communication of results through scientific publications and presentations at conferences.

The applicant must have a PhD (or be very close to completion) in animal personality with application to dairy farming. In-depth expertise in the deployment of precision livestock technologies on farms and analysing the data from these is required. Additionally, a PIL A (cattle) licence is required to perform this role.

The successful applicant will join a friendly, highly motivated and successful Ruminant Population Health research group with wide research connections throughout the School. The post will be primarily research focused (90%) with limited but some teaching and administrative duties.

Collaboration with current research teams and projects will be essential. Further roles include active participation in the Strategic Research Area of Ruminant Population Health and mentoring of post graduate researchers.

This is a full time, fixed term position.
