"Research Associate (Fixed Term)"

The Department of Politics and International Studies (POLIS), is seeking to appoint a full-time Research Associate for a fixed-term, three-year period, starting in May 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The post is open to those who are able, for half of their time, to collaborate with the Professor of Politics, Duncan Kelly, on a new research project. This is based around artistic modernisms (primarily in the visual arts/painting), their role in transforming art historical writing and practices, and which in combination shaped new languages for thinking about politics and economics, from the mid-to-late nineteenth and into the mid twentieth century at least. The ideal candidate will be able to offer academically innovative and rigorous research assistance in these areas, pursue intellectual collaboration where appropriate, and help with the organization of workshops and events (and future funding applications) around these themes. For the rest their time, the postholder will pursue their own research, and can also provide some teaching within POLIS.

This post will primarily be based at the Department of Politics and International Studies in Cambridge when not undertaking research and project activities.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years with no possibility of a further extension.
