Research Associate

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Research Associate to make a leading contribution to the Wellcome funded project ‘Identifying drivers of schistosomiasis treatment failure and recommendations for treatment strategies (DRIVERS)’ working with Professor Poppy Lamberton, and a wider international team from Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Malawi, and the UK.

You will lead the management and analysis of large datasets from multiple sources with a focus on praziquantel drug absorption and metabolism and their role in driving poor treatment efficacy, including analysing data from an additional Gates funded project in Côte d’Ivoire, and PK/PD modelling.

You will help support two PhD students also focusing on pharmacokinetics aspects within Côte d’Ivoire and Malawi and work closely alongside other national and international PhD students and PDRAs, working on other host factors driving poor treatment efficacy.

The successful candidate will also lead the curation, management and access of data and help safeguard the integrity and value of data outputs; help developing and delivering practical support for researchers and students facing challenges associated with data scale and complexity, including training in Côte d’Ivoire and Malawi in statistical analyses and data management.

The postholder will organise large and diverse datasets and model outputs from DRIVERS and other projects, ensuring they are findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (FAIR). Data may include epidemiology, malacology, immunology, pharmacokinetics, parasites genomics environmental, geospatial, and qualitative data.

The successful candidate will contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as make a significant contribution to the management and direction of this complex and challenging project as opportunities allow.
