About the Role

The Particle Physics group of the University of Bristol seeks a Research Associate to join its LHCb group. The group values diversity and inclusivity and welcomes applications from candidates of all backgrounds.

This post is funded through the STFC Consolidated Grant, until September 2027, with good prospects for further funding in the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct data analysis on “flavour anomalies” in beauty hadron decays and measurements of CP violation.
  • Develop sophisticated amplitude analysis techniques to maximise sensitivity to new physics phenomena.
  • Contribute to detector operation and future detector upgrades, including development of trigger and particle identification technologies using novel hardware accelerators.
  • Develop fast simulations using generative machine learning techniques.
  • Opportunities to contribute to phenomenology and software development.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

  • PhD in particle physics or a related field (awarded or near completion).
  • Experience in flavour physics or a related area.
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
