Research Associate on Online Algorithms

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join our team on the project “Challenges in Competitive Online Optimisation” supervised by Christian Coester. The project is funded by the European Research Council (ERC).

The project aims to tackle central challenges in the fields of online algorithms and learning-augmented algorithms. Goals of the project include the advancement of algorithmic design and analysis techniques with potential impact on long-standing open problems in online algorithms (such as the k-server problem or the dynamic optimality conjecture), and the development of universal techniques for designing learning-augmented algorithms.

While we recognise the value of AI tools in assisting with application preparation, submissions that are clearly AI-generated without personalisation or insight will be rejected. It's crucial that your application reflects your own experiences and understanding of the role.

The closing date for applications is midday on 21st April 2026. Interviews are expected to be held in late April or early May.
