Background of the recruitment and description of the project
The Magari Laboratory in the School of Engineering Science at Kochi University of Technology invites applications for one Research Associate (Post-doctoral Researcher) to conduct research and development on the synthesis of oxide semiconductor thin films and the fabrication of devices such as thin-film transistors. This position allows the appointee to focus on research, with no teaching or university administrative duties. The appointee will participate in research projects in the Advanced Electronics Laboratory led by Yusaku Magari, a faculty member of the University. Depending on their interests and research plans, the appointee may also independently formulate and pursue their own research topics and projects in addition to participating in these projects.
Work content and job description
Research will focus on oxide semiconductors, which are attracting attention as next-generation semiconductor materials. Activities include thin-film synthesis using sputtering, atomic layer deposition, and related methods; fabrication of devices such as thin-film transistors; and evaluation and analysis of thin-film physical properties and device characteristics. The appointee will carry out the full sequence from thin-film synthesis through device fabrication to characterization and analysis, advancing research and development of foundational technologies for oxide semiconductor devices.
Assigned courses: None. This position carries no teaching or university administrative duties.

Wages description: Salary: Annual salary of JPY 4,200,000
Working hours: 08:30-17:15
Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays based on the Public Holidays Act, New Years Day holidays (from December 29th to January 3rd)
Overtime and other explanations: Upon agreement, the professional discretionary work system will be applied (deemed working hours 7 hours 45 minutes a day). If the discretionary work system is not applicable, hours are from 8:30 to 17:15, five days a week (with 1 hour break per day).
