This is a unique opportunity to join The Poche Centre for Indigenous Health at the University of Sydney as a Research Associate, contributing to impactful research within a dynamic and collaborative environment. The role supports the advancement of research initiatives aligned with the Faculty's strategic priorities, with a strong focus on developing research capability and contributing to knowledge within the discipline.
As a member of the team, you will undertake research activities both independently and collaboratively, working under broad supervision while building your expertise in research design, delivery, and dissemination. You will contribute to ongoing research projects, support scholarly outputs, and engage with academic, community, and professional stakeholders.
You will play an active role in contributing to a positive and inclusive research culture, while developing your academic profile and strengthening your research network within a supportive and high-performing environment.

Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Conduct research and scholarly activities independently or as part of a collaborative team, contributing to the advancement of discipline knowledge.
- Develop and strengthen independent research capabilities under the guidance of senior academic staff.
- Provide informal mentoring and discipline-specific advice to students, supporting their academic development.
- Undertake administrative responsibilities and actively contribute to faculty and school meetings.
- Foster and contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace culture that values diversity, collaboration, and excellence.
- Support and contribute to the University and Faculty strategic priorities and broader organisational goals.
About you
- Combination of training and experience in a relevant field, or near completion (within 6 months) or completed PhD in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health, Mental Health, Social and Emotional Wellbeing.
- Demonstrated understanding of the relevant discipline, with experience contributing to original research and/or scholarly activity.
- Emerging research profile, with a developing record of outputs and contributions within the field.
- Developing network of academic, industry, and professional partners and stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to deliver clear and engaging presentations.
- Proven research, planning, and organisational skills, with strong computer literacy and a commitment to high-quality stakeholder engagement and service.
This position has been designated for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only under the provisions of section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW). Applicants will be required to provide evidence to confirm that they are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person as per the University's Confirmation of Identity Policy 2015

Full-time, 2-year fixed-term opportunity
Base Salary $89,831 + 17% superannuation
