Your Job:
- Bring together scientists at Forschungszentrum Jülich who are working on research data management (RDM) and build a community of practice for regular exchange.
- Pool knowledge and existing methods in the field of RDM in Jülich and beyond and share this knowledge with our scientists in the form of workshops and regular events, supported by colleagues at Forschungszentrum Jülich.
- Keep an eye out for new trends, techniques, events, and opportunities, evaluate them for our scientists and data managers, and feed them to the community.
- Play a key role in designing and implementing a website for Jülich’s RDM with internal and external target groups.
- Participate in national and international conferences, workshops, and projects to further develop the RDM community and showcase Jülich’s RDM activities to the outside world.
Your Profile:
- You have a master’s degree in the field of computer science, mathematics, engineering, a related discipline or communication science.
- You have proven experience in community management within the scientific community.
- You have excellent communication skills in English and (ideally) in German, you are not afraid of talking with people across hierarchies.
- You have an affinity for personal experience in scientific research.
- You should know your way around modern research data management techniques, but you don’t have to be a professional in this area.
You don’t need to check all the boxes above to apply for this position. We are looking for you as a person, not as a mere profile.
Our Offer:
We work on the very latest issues that impact our society and are offering you the chance to actively help in shaping the change! We support you in your work with:
- Innovative research environment: Engage in exciting challenges at one of Europe’s largest research centers, pushing the boundaries of scientific and technological progress. Benefit from access to state-of-the-art and unique supercomputing systems — including Europe’s first exascale computer.
- Team spirit and collaboration: Become part of an interdisciplinary, international, and supportive team culture. Enjoy close collaboration with experts – especially with our Research Software Engineering Community Manager.
- Flexibility: Flexible working time models, including options close to full-time, allow you to tailor your working hours to suit your individual needs.
- Work-life balance: Flexible working arrangements (including remote working) are generally possible upon agreement and in line with upcoming tasks and (on-site) appointments.
- Leave: You will receive 30 days of leave plus additional days off (e.g., between Christmas and New Year’s Day).
- Perspective: After a two-year fixed-term contract, our goal is to offer you a long-term perspective.
- Fair remuneration: Depending on your existing qualifications and the tasks assigned to you, you will be classified in pay grade 13 of the TVöD-Bund.
