Research Engineer

Job Summary

This position involves research and evaluation of state-of-the-art algorithms for detecting and classifying safe landing zones using computer vision techniques in order to design and develop custom models for detecting landing zones in real-time based on drone camera input, while considering factors like terrain, obstacles, and environmental conditions. It further requires teamwork to implement those models in tandem with hardware development.

Essential Job Duties

  • Research and evaluation of algorithms for detecting landing zones.
  • Development of custom computational models using visualization techniques.
  • Implementation of computational models on hardware as a team member of overall project.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Expertise in computer vision algorithms and image processing techniques (such as object detection, segmentation, and feature extraction).
  • Proficiency in deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Experience training models for real-world deployment.

Hiring Range

$80,000 to $112,700 per year

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
