Research Faculty - IM General Internal Medicine (Open Rank/Track Faculty)
Position Overview
Open-rank tenure track position applicants for Clinician Investigators and PhD Researchers to join the Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) and our large community of research faculty members as we continue to expand our team!
The Department of Internal Medicine (DOIM) is the largest department at OSUMC. In 2016, the DOIM had 31,000 hospital discharges and 614,000 outpatient encounters. The department has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report in multiple areas. While seven programs at OSUWMC were identified by this report, five of these programs are within internal medicine and are among the best in the country, including cancer, heart disease, kidney disease, diabetes and endocrine disorders and pulmonary and geriatrics.
Duties and Responsibilities
Persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty members tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.
Requirements
Clinician Investigators will have an MD or DO; Completion of Internal Medicine or IM-Peds Residency from an ACGME accredited program; and be board-certified/eligible in Internal Medicine. Fellowship training and/or a track record of independent funding is required. PhD Researchers will have a PhD in health services research, epidemiology, or a related field; and at least three years of collaborative research experience in a post-doctoral fellow and/or faculty position.
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of a primary care research fellowship, health services research fellowship, clinical scholars program, or similar is preferred. Ideal candidates would have an established record of publishing their research and obtaining funding, outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills, affinity for mentoring others, capacity to build and maintain productive collaborations, and ability to build and sustain an independent program of research.
