Research Fellow (Biological Sciences)
Job Description
The successful candidate will work with Associate Professor Chew Fook Tim under a project on Genetic Improvement of Indoor Farming Crops / Seed Innovation Hub.
The main responsibilities of the position include:
- Germplasm evaluation and assessment
- Key Phenotypic Definition and Evaluation, including molecular and biochemical bioassays
- Characterization of Genetic Control
- Cultivar and Lines Development
- Integration of Genomic Data into Cultivation Processes
- Multi-Location Trial Evaluations
- Further Value Chain Assessment and Development
Qualifications
PhD in Biological Sciences or Molecular Biology/ Biochemicals
Skills:
- Able to code in R
- Perform statistical analysis relating to Genome-wide Associations Studies, eQTL analysis
- Differential Gene Expression, Global Methylation Analysis, Mendelian Randomization, and Genomic Selection
Experience:
- Experience in conventional plant breeding would be an advantage
- Experienced in crop cultivation and breeding
- Strong motivation and leadership in pursuing challenging scientific questions and lead a team of co-workers
- Work well with interdisciplinary colleagues
- Mentoring and training junior researchers
- Excellent scientific written and interpersonal communication skills
- Good time and resource management skills
