Research Fellow/Clinical Research Nurse
As a Research Fellow/Clinical Research Nurse on the Next Generation Youth Wellbeing Study, you'll play a crucial role in a multi-site Indigenous youth health research project. Based in Perth at Edith Cowan University, you'll conduct clinical assessments and data collection with participants aged 10-24. You'll have the opportunity to work directly with young people, collect clinical and biological data, and contribute to research that addresses health disparities among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conduct Clinical Assessments: Perform anthropometry, blood pressure measurements, and blood collection using study-specific methods.
- Engage with Participants: Build rapport with young participants, ensure culturally safe communication, and manage recruitment and consent processes.
- Manage Research Operations: Maintain accurate documentation, support data entry and management, and ensure compliance with study protocols and ethical guidelines.
- Collaborate and Contribute: Participate in team meetings, contribute to study planning, and engage in community and professional activities related to the research area.
You may be a great fit if: You are a dedicated healthcare professional with a degree in Nursing, Biomedical Science, or an allied health discipline, possessing strong clinical skills and the ability to work effectively with young people in a research setting.
You may also: Have experience in clinical settings, preferably working with young people. Possess phlebotomy or sample collection skills. Demonstrate knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and ethical conduct of research. Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Show strong attention to detail and data accuracy. Be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Have experience or interest in working in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health.
