Research Fellow in Data Analyses

About the role

We wish to appoint a Research Fellow who will be a member of CHILDs group at the School of Life Course and Population Sciences. The successful candidate will be the lead analyst for an ARC South London study on multi-morbidity in children using CPRD data.

The ARC South London Children’s and Young person theme is important as many children in south London experience high levels of poor health, and unequal health and care outcomes. We particularly need to improve care for children with disabilities, complex needs and who face a range of challenges in their lives. This role involves using CPRD data to describe how common multi morbidity is in children and young people, how this has changed over time and how these diagnoses tend to cluster together. This information will then be used to help inform targeting future prevention activities and any change to delivery of health services.

Experience with large datasets and excellent communications skills will be essential for this role.

This role will involve developing and applying analysis plans using a variety of advanced methods with the support of project supervisors.

The postholder will have completed a PhD in a relevant discipline and have expertise in quantitative research methods. They will be someone who thrives in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment, but is able to work independently, solve problems and deliver research to tight deadlines. The role will involve collaboration with experienced researchers across medical statistics, epidemiology, informatics, social science and integration into the broader CHILDs team.

This is an outstanding opportunity to develop a research career through high quality publications, contributing to research proposals and taking advantage of developmental opportunities within the department and KCL.

This is a full time post (35 hours per week) for 6 months from 1/10/2025 - 31/3/2026.

Research staff at King’s are entitled to at least 10 days per year (pro-rata) for professional development. This entitlement, from the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, applies to Postdocs, Research Assistants, Research and Teaching Technicians, Teaching Fellows and AEP equivalent up to and including grade 7.

Visit the Centre for Research Staff Development for more information.
