We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Research Fellow to join the NIHR-funded Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) South West, working within a leading academic research environment.
This full-time, fixed-term post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality, impactful research in dementia and neuroprogressive conditions, supporting work that improves lives locally, regionally and nationally.
About the Role
You will be based in the Community and Primary Care Research Centre (CPCRC) at Plymouth Science Park and will work within the Dementia and Neurological Conditions Theme. The role involves leading and contributing to mixed-methods research across all stages of the research lifecycle, including design, delivery, analysis, publication and dissemination.
You will work collaboratively with academic, clinical and third-sector partners to ensure research is inclusive, co-produced and responsive to real-world needs. You will also be supported to develop an independent research profile aligned with ARC South West’s strategic priorities.
The role reports to Dr Nicolas Farina.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to mixed-methods research across ARC South West projects
- Design, deliver and analyse studies in dementia and neuroprogressive conditions
- Produce peer‑reviewed publications and disseminate findings at national and international conferences
- Support the development of funding applications and identification of future funding opportunities
- Translate research findings into practice and policy
- Contribute to collaborative research networks and represent the University externally
About You
You will:
- Hold a PhD (or equivalent international qualification) in health services research or a relevant discipline (e.g. psychology, sociology)
- Have strong knowledge of UK health services / social care research
- Demonstrate expertise in mixed‑methods research
- Have a developing track record of peer‑reviewed publications and grant applications
- Have experience managing research projects and working collaboratively across institutions
Additional Information
- Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week)
- Contract: Fixed-term for 5 years (funding dependent)
- Expected start date: 1 October 2026
- Location: Plymouth (hybrid working available; on-site attendance required for business needs)
- A Standard DBS check will be required for this role
