A call is open for the allocation of 1 (one) research fellowship with the reference AcTIon_A5_BII_1, for a bachelor student or bachelor enrolled in a master course (BII), within the Research Project titled “Acelerar a Inovação Terapêutica - para uma longevidade mais saudável” (AcTIon, code CENTRO2030-FEDER-02609900), co-funded at a rate of 85% by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) though the Regional Program Centro 2021-2027 (CENTRO 2030), taking place at the RISE-Health, Faculty of Health Sciences, of the University of Beira Interior (https://www.ubi.pt/Sites/fcsaude/pt/Pagina/investigacao), under the following conditions:
Research Field: Management / Psychology
Objectives: To evaluate the extent to which collaboration with a university, together with improvements in residents' motor and cognitive functions, can enhance management practices, established protocols, and overall outcomes.
Work plan:
The fellow will be responsible for evaluating the impact of the exercise intervention on the organizational practices of Residential Care Facilities for Older Adults (ERPI) in the Cova da Beira region.
The work will adopt a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methodologies to explore the perceptions of managers and staff regarding the organizational benefits associated with residents' participation in the exercise program.
- Literature review - Conduct a systematic review of the scientific literature on university-community partnerships, organizational change in long-term care facilities, and the impact of exercise programs on institutional practices.
- Study design - Develop the research protocol, including the selection of participants, study variables, data collection instruments (questionnaires and interview guides), and ethical procedures.
- Data collection - Recruit managers and staff members from participating residential care facilities. Conduct semi-structured interviews and administer questionnaires to assess perceptions of organizational changes resulting from the intervention.
- Data analysis - Perform qualitative data analysis using thematic analysis.
- Evaluation of organizational impact - Assess the extent to which collaboration with the university and improvements in residents' motor and cognitive function contribute to changes in management practices, institutional protocols, interdisciplinary collaboration, staff satisfaction, and overall organizational performance.

Work location: The work will be developed at the RISE-Health, Faculdade de Ciências da Saúde, UBI, Av. Infante D. Henrique, 6200-506 Covilhã, Portugal, under the scientific supervision of Professors João Monteiro, Paulo Pinheiro e Samuel Monteiro.
Fellowship duration and conditions – The fellowship will have the duration of 6 months, expected to start October 2026. The activity is in a regime of exclusive dedication in accordance with the RBIUBI. greater than 10.0 (ten point zero) points.

Benefits
A monthly maintenance allowance will be granted in accordance with the Annex I of the RBIUBI, with the amount of 701,12€ (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM-2026.pdf). The fellowship holder will have a personal accident insurance and can choose to be covered by the voluntary social insurance. These values will be added to the amount of monthly maintenance allowance.

Selection process
C1) Academic and/or professional evaluation
Sub-criteria and respective weighting:
C1.1. Academic background: Weighted average (ECTS - or years if ECTS information is not available) of the classification of academic degrees (Bachelor's) on a scale of 0 to 20 points; in the case of academic degrees obtained abroad, the classification will be 10, unless a certificate of recognition of the degree by a Portuguese institution is presented, with the respective classification.
C1.2. Personal curriculum: Evaluation from 0 to 20 points of other merit elements from the academic, scientific, professional, and civic background considered relevant to the project activities, based on the candidate’s CV and motivation letter, supported by appropriate documentary evidence. This includes number and quality of scientific outputs, previous experience, the reasons behind the application, how the work plan aligns with career development goals, and interest in the proposed research. For evaluation, preferred qualifications include demonstrated experience in identification and classification of medication classes.
The weighting for each sub-criterion will be as follows: C1.1 – 30%; C1.2 – 70%.
C2) Interview:
The interview will be optional and decided by the jury after the curricular evaluation of the candidates, in case of the persistence of doubts regarding the curricular evaluation or the need to better distinguish between candidates with similar evaluations in C1. It will be graded on a scale from 0 to 20 points.
The Final Score (FS) will be calculated using the formula:
FS = (C1 × 70%) + (C2 × 30%)
The FS will be attributed from 0 to 20 points and rounded to one decimal place.
The hiring of the selected candidate will be subject to achieving a final score equal to or greater than 10.0 (ten point zero) points.

Complaint and Appeal Procedures: After communication of the provisional lists of the results in the different phases of the selection process (Admission and Exclusion, Curricular Evaluation and Interview), the candidates have 10 working days to pronounce their disagreement, under the terms of article 121 and the Código do Procedimento Administrativo. If any allegations are presented, the final decision will be issued after the analysis of the statements presented during the prior hearing of interested parties. After the statutory deadline of 10 working days, the proposal for the final classification and ranking of the candidates becomes definitive.
The proposal for the final ranking of the candidates will constitute a reserve list for selection for a period of 6 months.
