The fellowship is intended for students enrolled in non-degree courses or PhD students in Chemical Engineering or related fields, holding a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related fields.
Objectives:
These fellowships are part of the BioCoating project, which aims at the development of a polyurethane-based paint for the automotive sector, using polyurethanes produced from renewable-based polyols, with energy efficiency and distinctive functional properties. The project’s R&D activities will focus on the development of renewable-based polyol production technology and the formulation of a polyurethane-based paint that meets the requirements of the automotive industry.
Work plan:
The experimental development will focus on two main objectives:
- Synthesis of new polyols from soybean oil for the preparation of bio-based polyurethanes.
- Development and optimization of bio-based paints using renewable-based polyurethanes.
The work will be carried out at the PCL laboratory, under the scientific supervision of Professor Jorge Coelho.

Selection process:
The selection will be carried out by a committee appointed for this purpose and may include an interview with the candidates. The evaluation criteria are as follows:
- 70% – Candidate’s Curriculum Vitae evaluation
- 30% – Previous experience relevant to the proposed tasks
