Research Manager
Job Summary
Scheduling bench staffs lab work; Managing staff schedule including vacations and working hours; Ensure staff availability till 6:00 PM; Cleaning and organizing LabVantage as per Director's instructions; Manage and complete CAP based documentation; Get SOPs and policies redesigned as per Director's instructions; Organize lab ensuring safety measures are in place; Represent Biorepository at safety and CTO and finance meetings in Director's absence; Manage cost recovery services via usage of iLab and People Soft; Help with Biorepository's contracts with internal and external organizations; Ensure regular staff training and development; Complete staff annual performance evaluations.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Manage Cost
Manage cost recovery via iLab and People Soft, including contract management and placing inventory orders and generating POs/invoices.
Administrative
Manage staff schedule; ensure equal distribution of tasks; up to date staff training; cross-training of staff in various lap processes; ensure staff availability in emergencies if needed. Organizing the lab and ensuring safety measures are followed on a regular basis and all necessary documentation completed. Complete staff annual performance evaluations.
Maintenance
Ensure equipment monitoring and preventative maintenance is carried out as outlined in biorepository policies. Ensure equipment is repaired asap if out of order.
Manage Lab Vantage
Manage Lab Vantage, the biorepository LIMS. Work with an in-house and vendor IT group to clean up and demographics, diagnosis, stage, grade and related parameters. Help generate concise sample inventory on a regular basis.
Cancer Registry/EPIC/pathology system
Work with Cancer Registry/EPIC/pathology system to import data into LV either via an interface or manually.
Liaise
Liaise with PIs and other MCG and GCC staff to market biorepository.
Other
Other duties assigned.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. from an accredited college or university with a minimum of one year directly applicable experience; previous supervisory experience.
OR
Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of five years progressive grant management, resources management and quality assurance program development experience and previous supervisory experience.
OR
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of eight years progressive grant management, resources management and quality assurance program development experience and previous supervisory experience.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)
Pay Band: B12
Salary Range: $62,300/annually - $79,400/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
