Research Nurse x 2 (Fixed Term)
Research Nurse x 2 (Fixed Term)
Are you a nurse or midwife experienced in research, considering a change of speciality or would you like a more patient-facing research role?
We are looking for enthusiastic Research Nurses and/or Midwives with the drive and initiative to work across the diverse responsibilities of the role that will include supporting clinic patients, recruiting research participants, working closely with medical/surgical teams and interacting with haematology and other research teams on the campus. You will be passionate about research, have good organisational skills, a flexible approach to work and be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Experience of research and/or clinical trials would be advantageous.
The successful candidates will be responsible for recruiting expectant mothers, taking cord blood after delivery and blood and surgical specimens such as bone marrow from other donors. They may also be involved in recruitment of stem cell donors and covering colleagues in the team. Therefore, they should be flexible, an excellent communicator and an ambassador for research in clinical settings.
The post holders will be part of the Cambridge Blood and Stem Cell Biobank, a research facility supporting clinical trials and providing valuable tissue for basic and translational research. The post holder will be part of a dynamic team working primarily to support local researchers and their collaborators. The ability to build good relationships with all our partners is essential.
We welcome applications from individuals wishing to work part-time 0.5FTE up to 0.75FTE; and willing to have a flexible working pattern. Please state preference in application.
These appointments are integrated between the University and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust ("NHS Trust"). You will therefore also be issued with an Honorary Contract with the NHS Trust. You should be aware that if your contract with the NHS Trust is terminated your employment with the University will be terminated, and vice versa. Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check (enhanced with children and adults' barred lists) and a health assessment.
Applicants must have a professional nursing or midwifery qualification and experience in Haematology, Oncology, Medical Research or a related speciality.
Please ensure that you upload your Curriculum Vitae (CV) and a covering letter in the Upload section of the online application. The covering letter should outline how you match the criteria for the post and why you are applying for this role. If you upload any additional documents which have not been requested, we will not be able to consider these as part of your application.
Questions regarding the application process should be sent to the HR team, HR@haem.cam.ac.uk. Specific questions the post responsibilities and part-time/flexible working patterns can be directed to Dr Joanna Baxter, who can be contacted at ejb60@cam.ac.uk.
Part-time: Two posts are available, approximately 0.75FTE and 0.5FTE; flexible hours will be considered in discussion with candidates at interview. As these posts will work alongside clinical and surgical services, school-time/term-time only hours are unlikely to be possible.

Availability: from mid-January/February 2026 onwards.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check (enhanced with children and adults' barred lists), a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check, a health assessment and a security check.
