About the Job
Manage, oversee, and work on experiments (80%)
  • Plan and execute experiments (e.g., immunohistochemistry [IHC])
  • Perform IHC procedures and analyze results
Routine lab maintenance (10%)
  • Clean and maintain the research bench and common work areas
Mentoring undergraduates (5%)
  • Train undergraduate students in basic lab techniques (e.g., mini preps, PCR)
  • Provide supervision and feedback during routine experiments
Materials acquisition and laboratory organization (as needed) (5%)
  • Order reagents and other lab supplies
  • Ensure proper storage and labeling of materials
Qualifications
All required qualifications must be documented on application materials
Required Qualifications:
Education:
  • BA/BS degree plus at least four years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least eight years.
Cell Culture:
Demonstrates experience with:
  • Maintenance and transfection (DNA, mRNA, protein) of immortalized cell lines
  • Protein/antibody staining and analysis (extra- and intracellular)
  • Cell separation and isolation
  • Virus titration and transduction
Molecular:
Demonstrates experience with:
  • Molecular cloning
  • Transformation
  • DNA purification
  • Digest verification
  • PCR
  • DNA extraction
Computer:
Demonstrates experience with:
  • R Studio
  • Microsoft Office
  • FileMaker Pro
  • Bioinformatic analysis tools (NCBI, ExPASy, etc.)
  • Qualtrics
Personal:
  • Intensely curious
  • Highly attentive to detail
  • Driven even through failure
  • A love for organization and finding the simplest solutions to complex problems
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrates experience with:
  • Mouse breeding
  • PCR
  • Genotyping
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $54,000 - $64,000/year; depending on education/qualifications/experience
Time Appointment Category: 100% Appointment
Position Type: Civil-Service & Non-Faculty Labor Represented Staff
