The Language Technologies Institute (LTI) at CMU is a world-renowned research and education hub at the forefront of natural language processing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction. Established within the School of Computer Science, LTI pioneers innovative ways to understanding, processing, and generating human language in both written and spoken forms.
We are seeking a Research Programmer/Analyst. The position contributes to the development of large-scale speech foundation models by designing, training, and evaluating advanced neural architectures for speech and audio processing. This role requires significant technical expertise, independent judgment, and creativity.
Core Responsibilities:
- Collecting and curating speech dataset
- Implementing and optimizing model training pipelines
- Analyzing model behavior
- Producing high-quality research outputs
- Provides senior leadership with accurate, timely insights to guide research strategy and future development.

Qualifications:
- Graduate level degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Experience with speech processing technologies
- Demonstrated research experience in speech processing, including publications in top-tier speech and audio conferences
- Experience in open-source development
- A combination of education and substantial experience from which comparable knowledge is proven may be considered.
