Research Project Manager
Position Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Project Manager for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. Work is performed independently with broadly defined objectives and limited review of overall results by the laboratory PI and research staff.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Provides specialized support for research activities related to biodiversity conservation and environmental DNA (eDNA).
- Establishes project frameworks, timelines, and analytical approaches that guide successful completion of grant and contract funded research projects.
- Develops research plans and budgets, designs and implements statistical, machine-learning, and bioinformatic methodologies, and manages project workflows while ensuring all sponsor requirements and deadlines are met.
- Conducts complex statistical analyses of eDNA and ecological datasets, integrating information from multiple research partners, including local, state, and federal organizations.
- Generates high-quality research products, including technical reports, peer-reviewed publications, and conference presentations, and for contributing to the development and promotion of the group's research capabilities.
- Identifies and pursues external funding opportunities.
- Prepares proposals to support ongoing research operations.
- Assists in maintaining strong relationships with sponsoring organizations.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Master's degree in ecology, evolution, natural resource management or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biodiversity conservation and environmental DNA principles and practices.
- A minimum of three years of relevant professional research experience in ecology, evolution, or renewable natural resource management.

This is a grant-funded position, employment in this position is contingent upon the availability of funds. This position will expire once the grant has ended.
