ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
- Be enrolled, as of the date the fellowship contract is signed, in a doctoral program, whether national or international, that is duly recognized and accredited;
- Hold a master’s degree in the field of Intercultural Studies, with a particular focus on research applied to the development of tangible and intangible heritage and to Resilient Cultural Heritage;
- Strong organizational skills, proactivity, responsibility, and the ability to work as part of a team;
- Proficiency in English as a working and communication language;
- Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies;
- Knowledge of research and project management support.
Specific Requirements
Preferential factors:
- Preference is given to candidates who already have experience in writing, publishing, and presenting scientific articles;
- Preference is given to candidates who are under the supervision of UTP faculty members;
- Preference is given to candidates who already have experience managing and actively participating in COST actions and international research projects;
- Preference is given to candidates with prior knowledge of and experience at the CEI.

Benefits
The scholarship amount is €1,359.64, in accordance with the FCT table of values currently in force (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM-2026.pdf), paid monthly, plus reimbursement of the voluntary social security contribution, in accordance with the provisions of the regulations (applicable only to contracts with a duration of 6 months or more).

Selection process
The selection method to be used will be based on the following selection criteria and respective weighting:
- Academic curriculum relevant to the field of the call and the activities to be performed, scored from 0 to 20 (weighting: 50%);
- Previous experience in the field of the call, scored from 0 to 20 (weighting: 50%).
Candidates may be excluded from the selection process on the following grounds:
- Failure to meet the mandatory requirements specified in Section 2;
- Candidates who obtain a score of less than 9.5 in any of the assessment components will be excluded from the selection process and will not be assessed in the subsequent component(s);
- A candidate's unavailability to provide any additional clarifications requested of them will be considered equivalent to withdrawal from the selection process.

The call will remain open for 10 (ten) days following the date of publication of the call for applications.
Applications must be submitted exclusively by completing the electronic application form available at https://domus.ipp.pt/concursos/iscap/pessoal/ and submitting it by the deadline, together with the following documents:
- Curriculum Vitae;
- Academic qualification certificates, or the corresponding recognition (including conversion of the final grade) when the qualification was awarded by foreign higher education institutions;
- Proof of enrolment in a study programme leading to a doctoral degree;
- A declaration of honour confirming that the applicant has read and understood the UTP Research Scholarship Regulations (P.PORTO/P-001/2020), approved by Order P.PORTO-P-015-2020, and undertakes to comply with them;
- Any other documents that the applicant considers relevant.
Notes:
- The supporting documents referred to in point 2, certifying the possession of academic degrees and diplomas, or their recognition when awarded by foreign higher education institutions, may be waived at the application stage and replaced by a declaration of honour from the applicant. Verification of this requirement will then take place only at the scholarship contracting stage. Failure to submit these documents, or submission of documents that do not comply with the requirements, within six months from the date on which the applicant is notified of approval following the scientific evaluation will result in the scholarship not being awarded.
- The document referred to in point 3 may also be omitted at the application stage. In this case, the scholarship contract will remain suspended until valid enrolment is confirmed, for a maximum period of six months from the date on which the applicant is notified of approval following the scientific evaluation.
Applications submitted by email or through any other electronic means other than the one specified above will not be accepted.
The scholarship will have a duration of 6 months, starting immediately after completion of the selection procedure, approval of the corresponding results by the Director of FCEP, and the formalization of the scholarship agreement. It may be renewed, where applicable, up to the maximum duration of the projects, in accordance with the applicable regulations.
The work will be carried out at CEI, the Centre for Intercultural Studies of FCEP, Offices 333–335, Rua Jaime Lopes Amorim, 4465-004 S. Mamede de Infesta, Matosinhos, under the scientific supervision of Professor Clara Sarmento, Full Professor at FCEP.
WORK PLAN
Collaborate on the work plans for the Horizon RCH – Resilient Cultural Heritage research project at the Center for Intercultural Studies, specifically:
- creation of scientific and educational materials, collection and management of qualitative and quantitative data, fieldwork, critical analysis, and scientific writing;
- Participation in activities to disseminate and communicate scientific results;
- Development of solutions for the evaluation and quality management of scientific results.
