Research Scientist - NASA’s Space Radiation Program

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Description: The University of Houston (UH) invites applications for a non-tenure-track Research Scientist position. This position provides direct support to NASA’s Space Radiation Program. The selected candidate will conduct research focused on developing computer models to simulate the interaction of high charge (Z) and energy (HZE) ions with biological matter. The work will be performed onsite at NASA’s Johnson Space Center.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Radiobiology or a closely related field (e.g., Radiation Biology, Medical Physics, Biophysics, Health Physics, or Applied Physics).
  • Strong background in physics and radiation interactions with biological matter.
  • Experience developing computational and Monte Carlo models for radiation track structure, micro/nanodosimetry, or biological damage.
  • Demonstrated research productivity, including peer-reviewed publications.
  • Experience supporting federally funded or NASA-related research programs preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
  • Ability to work onsite at NASA Johnson Space Center.
