Job Description Summary
The Tissue Immunity and Immune Priming Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Specialist to support ongoing research projects.
The successful candidate will play a key role in day-to-day laboratory operations, experimental execution, and data management, working closely with the Principal Investigator and other lab members.
Job Responsibilities
- Research and Experimental Support. This includes:
- Performing laboratory experiments following established protocols and assisting in the development, optimization, and documentation of experiment methods
- Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data
- Laboratory Operations. This includes:
- Preparation of reagents, buffers, and solutions for use by other lab members
- Maintenance of laboratory equipment; coordinate routine maintenance and troubleshooting
- Management of inventory of lab supplies. As a new lab, this will include ordering a large number of materials for setting up a newly established laboratory
- Collaboration and Communication. This includes:
- Work closely with the PI, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and other lab members
- Participate in lab meetings and contribute to discussions of experimental results and the critical analysis of results
- Assist with training of new lab members or students as appropriate
- Assist with data organization for publications, presentations, or grant submission and reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in STEM field and prior coursework in Immunology
- Prior laboratory and research experience
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working with laboratory animals
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with laboratory techniques such as animal handling, molecular biology, cell culture, microscopy, genotyping etc.
- Familiarity with computational analysis
- Familiarity with data working with Prism, JMP and/or other statistical tools
- Interest in pursuing a long-term role or advanced training in research
Research Specialist A
Bachelor of Science in STEM field and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Research Specialist B
Bachelor of Science in STEM field and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
