Research Specialist B
The Research Specialist B performs experiments using a variety of techniques. The position requires assisting the principal investigator with set-up of new laboratory space, including ordering, set-up and maintenance of supplies and equipment, and assistance with transfer of laboratory protocols, laboratory website, and other new lab logistics as needed. The position also requires laboratory purchasing, including obtaining quotes from sales representatives and selection of optimally priced laboratory reagents.

Research Specialist C
The Research Specialist C performs experiments using a variety of techniques. The position requires assisting the principal investigator with maintenance of laboratory space, including ordering, set-up and maintenance of supplies and equipment, maintenance of laboratory inventory, protocols, and website. The position also requires laboratory purchasing, including obtaining quotes from sales representatives and selection of optimally priced laboratory reagents. The Research Specialist C will also be developing and optimizing protocols and testing new reagents and workflows.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory research, troubleshoot problems, analyze data, design new research experiments, assist with tissue collection protocols, and prepare presentations, with many of these tasks done independently with review and assistance from the PI as needed.
• Participate in lab management and help support lab set up and operations, oversee ordering, organization and maintenance of reagents, equipment, and protocols. Develop and optimize protocols and workflows.
• Train and supervise other lab members or new lab members, provide scientific and technical expertise and guidance for other ongoing projects.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Research Specialist B: Bachelor of Science and 1 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Research Specialist C: Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Position is contingent upon continued grant funding.
