Research Support Associate
Position Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Support Associate within Radiation Oncology at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.
The primary purpose of the Research Support Associate is to work under the direction of the Principal Investigator to gain research skills and training in advancing radioprotection and hematopoietic recovery strategies. Under direction, the Research Support Associate will assist with technical laboratory procedures and analyses in support of specialized research activities of the laboratory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Carries out research activities under the guidance of the Principal Investigator (PI), including data collection, analysis, and documentation. Responsible for executing laboratory tasks as outlined by the Principal Investigator or a senior member of laboratory team.
- Performs functions as directed for experiments that are proposed in the grant, under the direction of the principal investigator and other designated lab members.
- Utilizes computer skills, equipment, and technology to support the project, and maintains project-related databases.
- Summarizes scientific research process and communicates project findings.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry or a relevant science field, required.
- Consideration to interview will also be given to applicants who have not yet graduated with a Bachelor's degree. Documentation of the required bachelor's degree must be provided prior to the commencement of employment.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing.
- No special vision requirements.
- Lifting up to 25 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Lab environment. Moderate noise.
- Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases. Universal precautions are mandatory.
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
