Research Technical Laboratory Manager

We are seeking an exceptional individual to take on the role of Research Technical Laboratory Manager, overseeing the management and development of our specialist laboratories, including lighting, construction, air quality, and digital built environment facilities
This permanent position is based at our Auckland campus and offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of research, teaching, and industry engagement
In this role, you'll:
- Provide technical leadership and hands-on support for staff, researchers, and students
- Ensure laboratory operations meet the highest standards of safety, innovation, and efficiency
- Contribute to research and teaching by developing, maintaining, and improving lab-based equipment, systems, and processes
- Support collaboration across disciplines and foster industry partnerships that advance our research and academic enterprise
About you - Mōu
You will hold a master's degree in a relevant discipline (or have equivalent professional experience) and bring strong technical and operational management experience within a built environment or related laboratory context
You'll be confident leading complex lab systems, from digital modelling tools to environmental testing equipment, and thrive in a collaborative, future-focused academic setting
As someone passionate about excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement, you'll ensure our labs are places of curiosity, creativity, and capability - spaces where learning meets application
