This position is to support the collection of neural and behavioral data from rodents. The candidate will collect neurophysiological, histological, and behavioral data and perform surgical procedures in rodents. The applicant will also manage a colony of rats and perform data analysis.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Surgical procedures and neural recording. Perform acute and chronic electrode implantation surgeries and collect electrophysiological data during surgical procedures.
- Perfuse animals and perform histological procedures to examine electrode positioning and identify neuronal subtypes (e.g., identify dopamine neurons in the brain with staining techniques).
- Assist with the building, programming, and maintenance of experiment control devices for assessing animal motor function, decision making, and learning. The candidate will also help with ordering required supplies for experiments.
- Analyze the results of data collected using excel, R, Python, or Matlab. A capacity and willingness to read scientific literature.
- Train students in various techniques such as animal training, histology, data acquisition.
- Manage information and certifications (e.g., animal data, DEA records, certifications).
KSAs
- Ability to perform high-precision surgical procedures on rodents with the assistance of a microscope (e.g., implant electrode arrays).
- Ability to work with rodents and train them on various behavioral tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Applicant has taken one college-level neuroscience course.
