Position Highlights
The Research Technician III will participate in data collection for a new, large-scale research grant from the National Institutes of Health to examine the effectiveness and implementation of sleep health coaching in 20 fire agencies across Arizona. This person will administer self-report assessments and devices and interact with study participants.
Remote or hybrid work is allowed during designated phases of the study and requires advance authorization from the supervisor.
This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position.
Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Data collection: This person will follow research protocols to administer self-report assessments, devices, and participant interviews. They will maintain logs, records of data, and participant contacts in an electronic data capture system. They will follow participant progress through the study and adherence in data collection procedures. They will support participant recruitment and retention initiatives and administer subject fees and payments.
- Develops, adapts, and refines procedures: Following a protocol, this person will collaborate on the development, adaptation, and refinement of data collection protocols and participate in quality assurance initiatives. This position will provide routine and technical administrative support consistent with these plans.
- Communication: Communicates with team members in Health Promotion Sciences, other departments, and external contacts. The research technician III trains students in research protocols and cross-trains on job functions with other research personnel to ensure adequate back-up. This position communicates with members of the fire service.
- Technical assistance: The research technician III participates in the cleaning and scoring of study data and the preparation of technical reports and protocols.
- Research operations: This position assists in the administrative and maintenance duties involved in research operations, such as bookkeeping, ordering supplies, procurement of specialized devices (e.g., actigraphs, blood pressure monitors), and maintains inventory.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience related to the area of assignment; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by Human Resources.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Public Health, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and research experience.
- Experience obtained via college coursework.
- Experience in human subjects research.
- Experience in behavioral health research.
- Experience with REDCap.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint; Zoom
