We are looking for a Research Assistant to join the Neves Lab in the School of Clinical Dentistry at the University of Sheffield to support Dr Neves’ newly funded BBSRC research project in oral stem cell biology. This role focuses on supporting in vivo research through the management of genetically modified rodent colonies and associated laboratory activities, contributing to a programme aimed at improving understanding of tissue regeneration and periodontal disease.

You will play a key role in establishing, breeding, genotyping, and maintaining rodent colonies, ensuring accurate animal and regulatory records are kept in line with University and Home Office requirements. You will also support in vivo experimental workflows, including periodontal disease induction models, and receive training in tissue collection, processing, and histological techniques for oral and systemic tissues.

You do not need to have experience in every aspect of the role at the outset. If you have experience working with laboratory animals, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage administrative and regulatory documentation accurately, we would welcome your application. You will join a collaborative and supportive research team that values high standards, openness, and the practical impact of preclinical research.

The University of Sheffield offers flexible working, generous annual leave, a strong pension scheme, and an inclusive environment where your contribution will be valued. If you are interested in supporting high-quality in vivo research with clear translational relevance, we encourage you to apply.
