The Research Technologist to work in the laboratory of Dr. Fernández-Peña with the Department of Neurological Sciences to investigate the neural mechanisms underlying psychiatric diseases. By leveraging a wide array of state-of-the-art techniques including in vivo calcium imaging, telemetry, chemo- and optogenetic manipulations, neuronal circuit tracing and genetic approaches. The Fernández-Peña Lab aims to elucidate the role of interoception (aka internal signals from the body) in the development of psychiatric disorders, particularly anxiety and depression. Will assist in neuroscience research in mouse models of anxiety and depression. Duties include mouse surgeries, colony maintenance and genotyping, histology and maintenance of laboratory supplies.
