DTU Construct is looking for a Tenure Track Researcher in Precision Tooling for Sustainable Manufacturing Processes.
The scientific domain of the position is within processes and production systems for precision and ultraprecision manufacturing of complex geometries for polymer and natural materials replication processes. Core aspects of the position will be the focus on the trade-off between process/system performance, reliability, energy and resource efficiency. This position offers unique opportunities with respect to high level research, training and innovation within manufacturing engineering, in an exciting combination of academic and industrial environments.
Responsibilities and qualifications
Within the scientific area, the researcher is expected to advance the Department's activities within the broad topics of modelling tool-workpiece interaction in mechanical material removal processes, zero-defect manufacturing, machining system performance characterization as well as on-machine and in-line characterization of surface quality and part accuracy. The researcher will furthermore contribute to the research group’s activities in natural materials-based manufacturing, with focus on mould concept and production system development.
As a Researcher you are expected to have an active role in preparation of project applications to attract national as well as European funding.
As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). Specifically, a PhD in Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent) with documented experience in the following areas:
- Precision machining
- Machining system performance improvement
- On machine and in line workpiece and tool characterization
- An overall knowledge of process chains for precision molds manufacturing
- Preparation of funding applications at national and European level
- Participation in teaching activities
- Teaching and Learning education
You must contribute to the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.
