Resident Director, 2026 GLOBE Summer Programs (4570U) - GLOBE
The GLOBE Center is hiring one Resident Director (RD) for the 2026 GLOBE Summer programs. The Resident Director will live in the residence hall, supervise undergraduate Resident Assistants and Mentors (RAMs) for GLOBE's high school programs, design and implement programs, attend to student crises, manage the summer program budget, among other duties. The RD is the primary senior staff member living in the residence and, as such, shapes the culture of the residential experience.
The RD position begins with a hire date of June 1, 2026 for online training/onboarding. The RD will support RAM online training/onboarding during the week of June 15-28, 2026. Beginning July 3rd, the RD position will be located on the UC Berkeley campus through Sunday, August 9, 2026 at 10am.
Please note that the RD position is full-time, contingent, residential, exempt, and tasked at 40-50 hours a week. The position is not subject to the overtime provision of the Fair Labor Standards Act. This is not a standard 9am-5pm office position, and includes significant evening, weekend, and on-call hours. RDs live in a standard room in International House on the same floor as the RAMs and program participants. Additionally, per International House regulations, the RD must be 21 years of age or older.

Responsibilities
- Manage RAMs: RD will manage 2-3 UC Berkeley undergraduate students serving as RAMs for each high school residential program. RDs oversee RAMs to ensure they are meeting their responsibilities and managing their time effectively. RDs are tasked with RAM training, ensuring proper adult:minor ratio during meal times, lead staff meetings, conducting regular 1 on 1 checkins with RAMs, etc.
- Student Oversight & Crisis Management: RDs will manage student concerns, assist in ongoing student case management, and elevate high-level issues to GLOBE staff. RDs are expected to exercise good judgement in maintaining appropriate levels of privacy and confidentiality.
- Program Development & Execution: RDs will take the lead in the development of programming by their residential staff. RDs will assist RAMs with the development of weekday afternoon activities; RDs will plan, budget, and execute weekend programming in collaboration with GLOBE staff and RAMs. These programs are social and co-curricular in nature.
- On Call: Serve as emergency point of contact for students during evenings and weekends, responding to urgent and emergent situations for program participants, and referring matters to the Assistant Director as appropriate. RD is expected to be easily accessible during evening and weekend periods.
- Assessment: RD will assist with GLOBE staff and program assessment efforts and make recommendations as needed.

- Per International House regulations, the RD must be 21 years of age or older.

Salary & Benefits
The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $4,000.
