Position Summary:
Full-time, twelve-month, live-in position, responsible for coordinating all aspects of student development in a designated residential area (multiple buildings). In concert with the University's mission, divisional learning goals and outcomes, and Residence Life's vision, the Resident Director is responsible for the development and implementation of a curriculum-based education to foster, enhance students' learning, development, academic success, and contribute to an inclusive, diverse and respectful community. Resident Directors serve as part of professional staff on-call rotation. Annual appointment of the Resident Director is renewable pending successful completion of job expectations and requirements.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Staff Development and Supervision
- recruit, train, and evaluate 14-22 undergraduate student leaders (Resident Assistants, Resident Community Coordinators, and Greek House Coordinators) for a designated residential area.
- Supervise student leaders in the performance of their responsibilities through regular contact, individual meetings, and weekly team meetings.
- Support student leaders in the implementation of the Residential Curriculum
- Promote collaborative and inclusive work and living environment and engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.
- Promote and ensure student leaders develop personal one-on-one relationships with reside
Community Development
- Residential Curriculum: Provide leadership in the creation and implementation of educational plans designed for first-year and continuing student residential areas.
- Academic and specialized communities: oversee communities such as Students of Color Residential Community, Honors programs, Business Leadership, International district, Themed Housing, Trans-non binary housing, and Living Learning Communities.
- Demonstrate an understanding and on-going commitment to diversity, inclusion, and social justice by addressing the needs and concerns of underrepresented students.
- Advise 1-2 Hall Councils to develop a larger community and foster leadership opportunities.
Student Development
- Maintain continual awareness of resident concerns through regular student contact in the residential areas.
- Attend and contribute to weekly Students of Concern meetings.
- Use a case management style approach to student support, outreach, and documentation.
- Respond to student behavioral concerns and incidents in residential areas. Coordinate with Residence Life and other Student Affairs staff on an appropriate response- as needed.
- Serves as an informal advisor to students regarding interpersonal conflict and personal development.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Coordinate the thorough, timely and accurate completion of reports and other administrative tasks, e.g., room moves, Room Condition reports, work orders, etc. Coordinates resident check-in and check-out processes.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to incidents and emergencies providing appropriate referrals where necessary.
- Support, interpret, implement and enforce university and departmental policies and procedures. Serve as a student conduct hearing officer.
- Participate in various department and division meetings.
- Participate, design, and implement recruitment and training programs for both professional staff and student leaders.
- Learn and use technology platforms, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, PeopleSoft, StarRez, Maxient, and other departmental website applications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Specializations
Each Resident Director will be assigned additional responsibilities to supplement their professional development and portfolio. These may include: advising the Residence Student Association, further developing the Residential Curriculum, Housing selections, Student Leader Selection and Recruitment, and Student Leader Trainings, and Greek Housing, Living Learning Community development, Marketing/Outreach, etc.
Summer Responsibilities
Resident Directors will support the Assistant Director of Residence Life for Operations to manage Summer Student Housing.

Supervisory Responsibilities
An RD will supervise 14-22 undergraduate student leaders (Resident Assistants and Resident Community Coordinators) for a designated residential area.
Budget Responsibilities
Advise their Hall Council on their budget. Manage staff development and programming funds
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates must be able to explain and/or demonstrate that they possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to safely perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Bachelor's degree required.
+ Master's degree in student personnel or a related field preferred - Minimum qualifications: residence life experience, commitment to diversity and inclusion, ability to respectfully work, communicate and provide leadership within a diverse campus community.
- Preferred Qualifications: student conduct, leadership development, curriculum development, assessment, supervision or advising experience is preferred.
- Seeking creative and imaginative professionals with the ability to assess context and execute tasks independently. Must be able to oversee a variety of projects and procedures; actively model ethical decision making, cultural competency, responsible management and courageous leadership for students.

Compensation and Benefits:
The anticipated range for this position is $23.05. Decisions about starting salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the candidate's education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.

- Positions that work less than .75 FTE (1,560 hours per year) do not qualify for long-term disability or education benefits.

- Temporary positions that work at least .50 FTE (1,040 hours per year) will be eligible for benefits.
