Join a vibrant, student centred team where you’ll play a key role in supporting an inclusive residential community, empowering students to belong, grow and succeed. As a Residential Life Officer, you will help deliver high quality residential programs, meaningful engagement opportunities, and integrated academic and wellbeing support that enriches the on campus living experience.

Who you are

You are a proactive, community minded professional who thrives in dynamic, people focused environments. With strong administrative capability and a genuine commitment to student success, you bring a warm, inclusive approach to supporting diverse student cohorts.

You are confident coordinating programs and events, managing multiple tasks in a high volume environment, and contributing to solutions when challenges arise. You communicate clearly, exercise sound judgement, and build trusted relationships with students, colleagues and stakeholders.

You also understand the importance of safe, supportive residential environments and are comfortable contributing to wellbeing triage, after hours responses and community building initiatives. Above all, you are motivated by helping students feel connected, supported and empowered throughout their university journey.

What you'll do

Contributing directly to the academic and social success of College residents, you will provide daily support in the development and coordination of initiatives such as Res PALS, academic support meetings and referral pathways, ensuring students can access timely and accurate guidance. You will also help deliver career-focused engagement opportunities, support student leadership initiatives and coordinate signature events such as Residential Awards Night, Academic Success events, Graduate Transition activities and Valedictory Ceremony.

You will ensure day-to-day operations run smoothly by:

  • Undertaking triage and referral processes within a multidisciplinary support framework, escalating matters appropriately to the Manager (Residential Life).
  • Participating in after-hours and weekend activities, including rostered on-call responses to residential incidents.
  • Delivering high quality administrative support across a wide range of services such as accommodation bookings, conference support, facilities coordination, invoicing, scholarships, key management and resident engagement programs.

Through this work, you will help cultivate a connected, respectful and supportive residential community.

What will help you succeed

To thrive in this role, you will bring a Diploma qualification in a relevant field, or equivalent experience, alongside demonstrated capability in delivering administrative support in a complex, high volume environment. You will also demonstrate:

  • Experience with coordinating academic or career development initiatives and supporting at risk students
  • Strong communication, professionalism and organisational skills to deliver accurate, high-quality administrative services whilst managing competing priorities
  • Commitment towards empathy and cultural awareness to support your ability to work confidently with diverse student cohorts and foster an inclusive residential community.

Additional requirements include holding a current driver’s licence, Blue Card and current First Aid and Mental Health First Aid training (or willingness and eligibility to acquire these).

Please note that the successful candidate will hold the job title of Residential Colleges Officer.
