About The Role

An exciting opportunity has become available at Swansea University. The positions are within a new team developed to enhance pastoral care in residences and improve student life by playing a key role in welcoming new students and supporting them with their transition to University. As a member of the Residence Life Team, you will enhance pastoral care in residences and improve student life by playing a key role in welcoming new students and supporting them with their transition to University. Working alongside Student Life teams, Faculties, first responders, accommodation and security teams, the Student Union and more, our team will foster a sense of belonging and connectedness for students in shared campus living. By focusing on student engagement, the team will engender a positive, respectful and supportive campus community. The team will identify and engage with vulnerable students who may be experiencing difficulties or showing signs of isolation and respond pro-actively to initiate the appropriate support. You will have shared responsibility for training and supporting a network of Residence Life Assistants, for the coordination of an engaging activities programme within our Residences on campus, and for capturing student feedback to develop innovative campaigns and strategies for improvement. You must be a proactive and motivated individual who will have the ability to engage with a diverse range of people and quickly establish a rapport. You will be an enthusiastic, self-confident individual, who enjoys interacting with others. You will be able to contribute fully to the process of embedding the Residence Life Team as an essential function of the University and as part of our commitment to offer the best possible student experience at Swansea University. Required to work a shift pattern including evenings and weekends. The post is 35 hours per week on a fixed term 12-month contract.
