Residential Support Coordinator
Job Summary
Residence Life at the University of Colorado Boulder focuses on student success through implementing innovative programs and services that promote co-curricular engagement. This position is focused on the management and implementation of Residential Support in Residence Life. Through the direct supervision of Student Staff & Leaders and the enforcement of campus policy, this Coordinator will assist in the department's implementation of residential support regarding care, crisis, and follow-up. This position is a live-on, full-time, 12-month role.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Crisis Management and Student Support
- Complete follow-up with residents after incidents involving arrests, hospital transports, high-impact events, etc, to address personal and community impact.
- Support resident education around topics of Alcohol and other Drugs (AOD), safety, safe sex practices, consent, bystander intervention, and conflict mediation.
- Work with family members regarding concerns for on-campus residents and communicate all information to the supervisor as needed.
- Address and resolve bias-related incidents and ensure proper resources and support are being provided for all impacted parties.
- Support students' post-crisis response by ensuring they have support and the necessary resources.
- Maintain positive and ongoing relationships with necessary campus partners such as Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution, Student Support and Case Management, CU Police Department, Office of Victims Assistance, Disability Services, Threat Assessment and the Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance.
- Manage and delegate incoming student concerns for their area to appropriate Student Staff and Leaders.
- Assist in the management of the emergency/temporary room relocation process.
- Support Student Staff and Leaders after responding to potentially impactful events.
- Ensure student concerns and conduct cases are documented and addressed in a timely manner.
- Assist in the implementation of safety and support initiatives on identified high-impact days.
- Advocate student concerns to relevant university and campus partners as needed.
- Develop and implement strategies to minimize acts of vandalism throughout the community in collaboration with the Coordinator of Community Operations.
Student Conduct
- Serve as a student conduct hearing officer for departmental and university-level violations and pursue opportunities for student learning within community impact.
- Ensure accurate documentation, report submission, and updating via the Maxient database.
- Manage student caseload, in collaboration with Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution, and meet adjudication timeline expectations.
Human Resource Management Supervision
- Directly supervise 8 - 16 Student Staff and Leaders in multiple capacities.
- Conduct intentional performance reviews for Student Staff and Leaders and maintain ongoing accountability focused on learning and development.
- Support the department in the implementation of processes to recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate highly talented, student life-focused staff at all position levels of Residence Life.
- Facilitate team meetings to disseminate information and develop staff skills.
- Hold Student Staff and Leaders accountable for meeting performance expectations, including responsibilities outlined in the Emergency Response Manual.
- Assist in the training and development for Student Staff and Leaders positions focused on crisis response and residential support in collaboration with the Residential Support Managers.
- Ensure all federal, state, university, and departmental hiring processes are followed.
- Ensure university training requirements for all direct reports are met.
- Assist direct reports in building inclusive and caring relationships with students within the residential community.
Operations & Administration
- Respond in a timely manner to outreach from constituents using all university-approved communication tools (email, phone, Teams, etc.).
- Participate in departmental committees and represent the department to the university and Boulder community as assigned.
- Assist with facility concerns in residence halls.
- Support the Assistant Director of Residential Operations by leading direct reports through move-in, move-out, break transitions, and other high-volume operational periods.
- Support Student Staff and Leaders in the facilitation of regular Health and Safety inspections.
- Assist with the opening, closing, and break transitions of the residence halls.
- Administer all fiscal processes with maximum integrity and timeliness.
- Follow all federal, state, university, and departmental budget procedures.
- Additional duties as required to support departmental needs.
- Ensure duty logs and schedules are appropriately used by Student Staff and Leaders.
Community and Student Development
- Promote an inclusive student-centered residential environment that supports the academic mission of the institution.
- Facilitate follow-up on completed roommate agreements when roommate mediations are necessary to ensure both parties are following up on what they agreed to.
- Oversee the safety and security of the residential community.
- Act as a representative of Residence Life and Student Life on campus.
- Ensure departmental goals, values, and central initiatives are being supported and implemented within your area.
- Assist in campus retention and enrollment management efforts, including participation in admissions visit events and summer orientation experiences.
Emergency Response
- While serving on-call, be available to evaluate situational needs, coordinate with relevant campus partners and leaders, and facilitate Residence Life in-person response.
- Evaluate and respond to all emergency and crisis responses within your assigned area during operating hours.
- Serve in a 24/7 on-call rotation for 9,000+ residents.
- Provide crisis management assistance and follow-up.
- Uphold departmental and university crisis response policies and procedures.
- Serve as a Campus Security Authority, assisting in reporting incident information as needed.
