Retention and Second Year Experience Coordinator Role Jarvis Christian University is seeking a dynamic and student-focused Retention and Second Year Experience Coordinator to lead initiatives that enhance student persistence and success. This position is dedicated to supporting second-year students as they transition from their first year, fostering engagement, and ensuring they have the resources to thrive academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Student retention initiatives: Develop and implement programs that promote persistence from the first to second year and beyond.
  • Second-year experience programming: Coordinate workshops, events, and mentoring opportunities tailored to the unique needs of sophomore students.
  • Data-informed advising: Monitor student progress, analyze retention data, and collaborate with campus partners to address barriers to success.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with faculty, advisors, and student affairs staff to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Student engagement: Encourage involvement in campus life, leadership opportunities, and academic enrichment activities.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in student success, retention programs, or academic advising.
  • Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and program development skills.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with student development theory, retention strategies, and best practices in higher education.
