Retiree-Faculty Emeritus
Position Overview
The WDE Retiree-Faculty Emeritus will train a replacement in the following area and responsibilities of Career and Technical Education within the Department of Educational Studies. This is an important state priority, and we need to continue the work in this area as a fulfillment of our land-grant mission.
The Retiree-Faculty Emeritus must train his replacement in the following responsibilities:
- To learn the career-tech licensure requirements found in the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce handbook which are unique to career-tech. Such requirements would be: Work experience and credential requirements for more than 100 career-tech licenses, the processes for approving the 12 different types of career-tech licenses and endorsements and the transcript review and signature requirements for each one and finally, the responsibilities for working with ODEW, ODHE and the state board of education on career-tech licensure.
- To be familiar with the more than 30 school districts and approximately, 70-75 middle and high schools, career centers and prison facilities where we have teachers at any given time. The Faculty Emeritus needs to train his replacement to know the processes involved in the state-required performance-based assessment, which is the alternative to the RESA process required for all other licensure programs.
- To be learn about admissions through the OSU Office of Distance Education and eLearning and graduate admissions, especially in the summer, when the majority of new career-tech teachers enroll in our ES WDE 5677 new teacher workshop.
- The person is the point person for the undergraduate programs in ES and familiarize themselves with the BS degree requirements and interact with the Office of Undergraduate Education in PAES.
As part of the training process, this position involves the collaborative teaching of a number of ES WDE course, collaborative advising, and collaboration on many projects listed above. Other duties as assigned.
The university will not sponsor candidates for work visas for this position
Education and Experience Requirements
Required: PhD Degree in Comprehensive Vocational Education or related field. Significant experience with WDE licensure programs; WDE related grants from the ODEW, ODRC, and DYS; local Ohio school districts, career centers, and prison facilities; and OSU resources. Significant experience classroom teaching and online teaching.
