RN Clinical Nurse Coordinator (Hybrid) - Endocrinology

Position Summary

The Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism & Lipid Research has five clinic sites across the St. Louis metro area with more than 30 clinical faculty and advanced practice providers. We care for patients with a broad range of endocrine conditions and metabolic weight management needs.

Nurse coordinators support providers by ensuring timely, coordinated care. They work both in clinic and remotely, with responsibilities including triaging patient calls and messages, coordinating prior authorizations, providing patient education, and supporting care transitions.

This position offers a hybrid schedule after six months, with two days remote and three days in-clinic, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

We are seeking an RN with experience in endocrinology, diabetes education, or chronic disease management who demonstrates strong clinical judgment, organizational skills, and teamwork.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patients; completes health history and physical examination on patients; conveys findings to physician.
  • Coordinates patient care, orders diagnostic tests, conveys findings to physician, attends inpatient rounds, coordinates patient appointments and assists with referrals to outside sources.
  • Assists physician and provides support with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
  • Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties, including compliance with environmental safety regulations, infection control standards and quality assurance.
  • Acts as liaison and team leader by facilitating communication and coordination of care between patients, families and health team members; explains routines and procedures to patients and coordinates patient care information to appropriate sources.

Required Qualifications

Education: A diploma, certification or degree is not required.

Certifications: Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, Basic Life Support - American Red Cross, Registered Nurse - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Registered Nurse - Missouri Division of Professional Registration.

Work Experience: Nursing (2 Years).

Graduate of an accredited nursing program with two years of nursing experience. Current RN licensure in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location, in accordance with the Compact Act. Basic Life Support Certification or obtains certification within one month of employment. Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements.

Salary Range

$60,800.00 - $105,700.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
