Summary: The Researcher-5 will lead the effort and collaborate with graduate students and Signals-and-Systems UMN-ECE faculty in developing theory and application tools for artificial intelligence (AI), and training efficient data analytics.
60% - Leading research in AI will include generative models, algorithms and performance analysis, graph-driven deep neural networks, data-efficient machine learning, self-supervised learning, reinforcement learning, online learning, and meta-learning with applications to communications and networking. Authoring or co-authoring, or otherwise collaborating on reports, conference papers and journal publications in flagship venues, and delivering technical presentations.
20% - Leading the research activities related to the funded project(s) within the research group and across collaborators (UConn./Michigan State U./ GMU and U. of GA), mentoring junior research assistants, project-status reporting. Helping in the organizing of short courses and reading group on generative AI, diffusion models, and if time allows, also quantum information processing.
20% - Leading the effort to mentor students, preparing bibliographies, abstracting, editing, keeping records, etc. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: BA/BS plus at least six years of relevant experience or advanced degree plus at least four years of relevant experience. PhD or similar terminal degree in ECE with major in optimization and statistics or related area. (preferred) Experience in theory of optimization and statistical models as well as wireless communication networks and perhaps the smart power grid for at least three (3) years after PhD.
