General Function
Under general supervision, the Digital Navigator Instructor will implement and oversee the NorthStar Digital Literacy program at BCC. The candidate will plan and assist with the instruction of digital literacy courses for the GEAR (Gateway to Employment & Academic Readiness) Program. The employee will provide quality, cutting-edge instruction that incorporates the NC Adult Education Standards and integrated job training on Main Campus and other locations within Brunswick County. Additionally, the candidate will assist with the administration of high school equivalency exams in the testing center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilites
- Oversees implementation and usage of North Star Digital Literacy Assessment Software Application including proctoring credential assessments
- Using the NorthStar Application, designs comprehensive digital literacy courses which promote digital skills training as necessary for transition to post-secondary programs of study or credential attainment
- Facilitates digital literacy classes within the community to including ongoing student advisement
- Monitors student participation and performance and provides weekly and monthly reports to Program Director
- Prepares and submits al necessary paperwork, including but not limited to, timesheets, travel reimbursements, and required reports, in a timely and organized manner
- Builds relationships with community organizations, employers and NC Works partners, developing opportunities to serve the diverse student population within Brunswick County
- Proctor HSE Exams
- Vigilant and ability to pay attention and prevent possible cheating on exams
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Ability to use Microsoft Office & Outlook (Intermediate to advanced computer skills)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent verbal & organizational skills
- Ability to complete required training for test center
Preferred Requirements
- Prior knowledge and experience within College and Career Readiness basic skills/literacy programs
- Prior experience instructing and/or developing digital literacy classes including Microsoft Office Suite
- Prior experience with Pearson Test Center and/or HiSet exam administration
