School Wellness Coordinator (Part-Time)
Job Description
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Provide school wellness coordination and support for The John C. Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition (JSI) to PK-12 schools across Massachusetts according to state and federal regulatory requirements and the established program of work.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Director and Manager of Education and Wellness
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None
EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate, implement, monitor, and report on activities for statewide wellness initiatives in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate professional development in support of school wellness.
- Assess local school wellness policies for compliance and assist schools in meeting state and federal school wellness policy requirements.
- Support, guide, and advise on the Massachusetts School Wellness website, the Massachusetts Local Wellness Policy Strength Checklist and Implementation Assessment online tools.
- Provide technical and educational support, and assistance to programs and schools in support of school wellness, including but not limited to nutrition, physical activity, and mental health.
- Coordinate, communicate, and engage with national and statewide partners, organizations, school professionals and communities in support of school wellness.
- Communicate relevant information and feedback in a professional and timely manner.
- Represent JSI in a positive and professional manner.
- Accountable for ensuring that equal opportunity, inclusion, and equity are integrally tied to all actions and decisions in areas of responsibility.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree
- At least five years of professional work experience in local school wellness policy compliance and regulation for Massachusetts.
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, with evidence of effective oral and written communication and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritize workload, effectively solve problems and make decisions.
- Experience in group facilitation.
Additional Information
This is a part-time, grant-funded, non-benefited, contract position, not to exceed 18 hours per week. The pay rate is $75 per hour. Ongoing employment is contingent on grant funding.
