Science Guide
Job Summary: As a Science Guide at the Universiteitsmuseum Utrecht, you will make visitors enthusiastic about science by acting as a bridge between science and the public. You will ensure visitors have an excellent experience and support educational activities.
Responsibilities: Receive families and provide engaging experiences; conduct research tours and workshops for schoolchildren; supervise events and activities; support and guide student guides (Kennismakers); collect feedback and ideas from the museum floor; handle daily operations, including identifying and addressing issues like maintenance or safety concerns; assist with practical and organizational tasks for the education and program team; represent the museum at external public events.
Qualifications and Requirements: Minimum MBO diploma in a pedagogical-didactic field (such as education or teaching training); affinity with science and research; proven experience in guiding groups of young people and clearly communicating information; fluent in speaking and writing Dutch; available to work weekends, holidays, and school vacations.
What the Employer Offers: A 12-month contract with the possibility of extension to indefinite term; a 24-hour workweek with a gross monthly salary ranging from €3,029 to €3,623 for full-time (scale 6 of the Dutch Universities collective agreement); 8% holiday pay and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus; pension scheme, partially paid parental leave, and flexible working conditions based on the Dutch Universities collective agreement; opportunities for professional development, additional leave arrangements, and options to expand benefits through the Choices Model.
