Offer Description
The purpose of the contract is to collaborate on the project’s areas of work and implementation, carrying out the following tasks:
- Processing clinical samples for the detection of respiratory viruses as part of the primary care surveillance programme for acute respiratory infections.
- Carrying out PCR testing of clinical samples for metapneumovirus at the Clinical Microbiology Unit of the Regional Public Health Laboratory of the Community of Madrid.
- Providing support in the management of the procurement, control and storage of reagents and consumables used in the project.
- Managing and supervising the preparation of databases related to the project.
- Analysing the data obtained in the study, both retrospectively and prospectively.
- Providing support in the preparation of reports and scientific publications containing data related to the project.

Applicants must hold the required qualification in accordance with the Spanish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (MECES), namely: a Master’s degree, a Bachelor’s degree comprising 300 or more ECTS credits, a Licenciado/a or equivalent (MECES 3, EQF 7).
Qualifications:
- A degree at Master’s level, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Science, Social Sciences or Health Sciences (Medicine, Pharmacy, Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry)
- Specialist in Microbiology and Parasitology in accordance with Order SCO/3256/2006 of 2 October
Specific Requirements
The selection process will consist of a merit-based competition in accordance with the criteria set out below, which candidates must meet by the closing date for applications.
- Hold a PhD in a field related to molecular biology (10 points).
- Postgraduate studies related to scientific activities with clinical applications (maximum 5 points).
- Training in public health, epidemiology and statistics (maximum 5 points).
- Training in laboratory accreditation under the ISO 15189 standard (maximum 4 points).
- Research placement abroad (maximum 4 points).
- Professional experience as a Specialist in Microbiology and Parasitology (10 points).
- Presentations at conferences and scientific publications (maximum 10 points).
- Participation in research projects (maximum 5 points).
- Professional experience in high-throughput sequencing (maximum 5 points).
- Teaching experience at public universities (maximum 4 points).
- Spoken and written English (maximum 4 points).
- Awards, honours and distinctions (maximum 4 points).

Benefits
The salary will be as set out in the Collective Agreement for the group of companies belonging to the Biomedical Research Foundations of the SERMAS Public Health Services, for professional group II, functional area 2, and the ‘Higher Qualification’ category.
Eligibility criteria
Phase 1 — Merit assessment:Academic record and other merits related to the position (up to a maximum of 70 points)
The selection committee may request from applicants any clarifications it deems appropriate regarding the merits claimed. All claimed merits must be held by the deadline for submission of applications and must be duly documented in order to be considered for evaluation if deemed necessary.
Pre‑selected candidates (those obtaining a minimum of 40 points in the merit assessment) may be called for a personal interview
Phase 2 — Assessment of aptitudes and interviews (maximum of 30 points)
To evaluate the candidate’s personal competencies in relation to the position, the Selection Committee will conduct a personal interview as a means of assessing the candidate’s contribution and motivation for the project, their reasoning ability, and their capacity for presentation and problem‑solving.
In any case, a minimum score of 50 points across all the above phases must be obtained in order to be eligible for the advertised position
