Security Officer

Our Safety and Security team works closely with students, staff, and faculty to provide a safe learning environment where great things happen. Examples of Duties
- Patrol University property to prevent and detect signs of intrusion, theft, and life safety concerns. Provide prompt, courteous service to students, staff, and visitors.
- Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team and recognize and support team diversity.
- Investigate suspicious activity, security issues, and criminal incidents. These investigations must be adequately documented in our reporting system which we provide training in.
- Work a full-time schedule, days, evenings, or overnights, including weekends and holidays as necessary and defined prior to onboarding. Husson Safety and Security is a 24/7/365 team.
- Attend and/or complete all departmental and University training requirements to include CPR/AED certification.
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies & procedures.
- Knowledgeable of Husson University Campus property, life safety systems, and emergency plans.
- Maintain working knowledge and the ability to use all Safety and Security systems and technology platforms.
- Maintain confidentiality of departmental and University information.
- All other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- High school education or equivalent required.
- Must have the ability to foster a positive and inclusive campus environment.
- Must have attention to detail and a desire to serve our community members with care.
- Be able to prioritize tasks, organize, and follow up when needed.
- Have a clear command of the English language and be able to complete computer-generated reports.
- Be a clear thinker, display the ability to remain calm, and show compassion when resolving community problems.
- Proactively perform duties with minimal supervision.
- Safely operate motorized vehicles, bicycles, and other department-owned equipment.
- Must possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the state of Maine.
- Must be certified or have the ability to be certified in First Aid, CPR/AED, and other equipment as assigned.
